FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW men's volleyball head coach Ryan "Rock" Perrotte has announced that IPFW alum, and most recent graduate assistant coach, JW Kieckhefer has been promoted to assistant coach. Kieckhefer fills the void left following Perrotte's promotion to head coach after the retirement of IPFW's hall of fame coach Arnie Ball.
"I am excited to begin the next chapter in my coaching career as an assistant coach with the IPFW men's volleyball program," said Kieckhefer. "I want to thank coach Perrotte and Athletic Director Kelley Hartley Hutton for making this possible. I also want to thank coach Ball and coach Mark Franke for allowing me to learn from them and soak in as much information as possible over the last year. Most people dream of being able to coach at their alma mater. I am honored and thrilled that I get the chance to live out that dream with such a prestigious program."
Prior to his time as a graduate assistant coach in 2015, Kieckhefer played as a libero in four seasons with the Mastodons. As a student-athlete, Kieckhefer saw action in 105 matches, earning 498 digs (1.44 per set), 78 assists, and two serving aces. Kieckherfer sits in the top-25 for most career digs in IPFW history.
As a graduate assistant coach under Ball and Perrotte, Kieckhefer helped the Mastodons to wins over three ranked opponents (CSUN, Penn State, and Ball State), while also hosting the opening round of the MIVA (Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association).
