Women's Golf Tenth After First Round of MSU Invite

MURRAY, Ky. - The IPFW women's golf team kicked off its season at the Murray State Invitational where the Mastodons sit in 10th place after the first round with a team score of 335. The 'Dons are two strokes back of ninth place Eastern Illinois.
Being played at the par-72, 6,017 yard Miller Memorial Golf Course, host Murray State holds a three-stroke lead over Southern Illinois. Sydney Trimble of Murray State leads the 75-player field by one stroke with a 1-over-par 73.
Madison Chesnutt and Brenna Sherwood paced the Mastodons on the day, carding rounds of 82 to finish tied for 44th. One stroke separates Candi Keller and Paige Bird with rounds of 85 and 86, respectively. Keller currently sits in a tie for 59th while Bird, playing in her first collegiate tournament, is tied for 61st. Monica Dorner rounds out the team scoring for the 'Dons with an 89 to end the round tied for 65th.
The final round of the MSU Invitational will an 11 a.m. ET shotgun start.
