Sherwood Leads Mastodons After Day One of Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. - After the first day of the Cardinal Classic, the IPFW women's golf team sits in 15th place with rounds of 318-324-642.
Hosted by Ball State at The Players Club, a par-72, 6,204-yard course, Eastern Kentucky holds a 22-stroke lead over Eastern Michigan with a day one score of 572. Becky Sharpe and Sofie Levin of Eastern Kentucky are tied atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 2-under-par 142.
The Mastodons finished the day one shot back of Central Michigan. Brenna Sherwood paced the 'Dons on the day, recording four birdies to finish with rounds of 79-77-156 to sit in a tie for 41st place. Candi Keller carded a trio of birdies in the opening round to finish the day with scores of 77-83-160 to enter the final say tied for 57th. Two shots back in a tie for 61st is Monica Dorner carding a 79-83-162 over 36 holes. Playing in her first collegiate tournament, Abigail Carlsen ended the day tied for 69th shooting rounds of 83-82-165. Madison Chesnutt rounded out the team scoring with 84-82-166 and finish in 72nd place.
IPFW will tee off the final round of the Cardinal Classic beginning at 9 a.m. on September 22.
