Kurosky Shoots Low-Round of the Day as Mastodons Sit in 12th

PORT CLINTON, Ohio - Through the first day of the Rocket Classic, the Fort Wayne women's golf team sits in 12th place with scores of 328-326=654.
Hosted by Toledo at the par-72, 5,931-yard Catawba Island Club, Western Michigan holds a two-shot lead over second-place Eastern Kentucky heading into the final round. Julia Champion also of WMU leads the individual field by two strokes with a 36-hole score of 2-over-par 146
Fort Wayne finished the opening day two shots behind 11th place Bucknell. Monica Dorner led the Mastodons on the day, tying for 49th place, with rounds of 81-82=163. Madison Chesnutt recorded a pair of birdies during the afternoon round to shoot 82-83=165 and enter day two tied for 52nd.
Jenna Kurosky carded the lowest round of the day for the 'Dons with a 3-over-par 75 while recording four birdies during the second round. Kurosky ended day one in 61st position, shooing 93-75=168. Two shots separated Linnzie Richner and Paige Bird to round out the team scoring, finishing in ties for 66th and 71st places, respectively. Richner carded rounds of 84-86=170 while Bird finished with scores of 81-91=172.
The final round of the Rocket Classic will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, October 11.
