
Chesnutt and Kurosky Pace Mastodons at Rocket Classic

PORT CLINTON, Ohio - The Fort Wayne women's golf team capped off its week at the Rocket Classic with a 12th place finish, shooting a 328 on the final day to card a 982 for the tournament.
Hosted by Toledo at the Catawba Island Club, the par-72 course was played at 5,931 yards. Eastern Kentucky won the team title by two shots over Western Michigan with a two-day total of 915. Julia Champion from WMU captured the induvial medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 2-over-par 218.
The Mastodons finished nine strokes back of 11th place Bucknell but were 24 shots better than 13th place UIC.
Jenna Kurosky carded a career-low 54-hole score of 246 to tie teammate Madison Chesnutt for 51st place and lead the 'Dons for the week. Kurosky carded three birdies on the day to shoot a 78 while Chesnutt carded an 81. Linnzie Richner fired an 81 on the day, including three birdies, to finish the classic tied for 61st with a two-day score of 251. Paige Bird finished in 71st place with an 88 for the round and shooting a 260 for the week. Monica Dorner completed 13 holes of the round, but had to withdraw after suffering an injury.
Fort Wayne closes out its Fall season October 17-18 at the Dayton Fall Invitational.
