Jaqua and Rightnowar Earn Double-Doubles as Mastodons Fall

INDIANAPOLIS - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball dropped a tough five-set match on the road as the Mastodons fell to IUPUI 3-2 (25-27, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-7).
The Mastodons had four players finish in double-digit kills and two players earn a double-double led by Nicole Rightnowar. Rightnowar finished with a team-high 18 kills to go along with 11 digs for her 11th double-double of the year. Madison Jaqua earned her eighth double-double of the season with 55 assists and a season-high 20 digs. Lauren Hoffman finished with 16 kills while Somer Johnson had 14 and Natalie Seiler added 12. Olivia Hahn had a match-high 23 digs on the night.
The 'Dons trailed for most of the first set, but came back when it mattered most. Down 23-19, the Mastodons rattled off five consecutive points. IUPUI responded with two points of its own, but it was Fort Wayne that scored the final three to win the set.
The Mastodons scored the first three points of the second set to take the early advantage. With the score tied 20-20, Fort Wayne scored four of the next five points to take the frame.
The 'Dons sprinted out to a 5-0 lead to begin the third set but an 8-2 run by the Jaguars gave them the lead for good. With the score tied 21-21 in the fourth, IUPUI took the next three points as Fort Wayne was unable to come back. The Mastodons fell behind 8-2 in the fifth as the Jags went on to take the set and the match.
Fort Wayne returns home to host a pair of Summit League matches beginning with Western Illinois on October 21 at 7 p.m.
