Mastodons Drop Road Match at Denver

DENVER - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team dropped the first match of its road trip 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19) at Denver.
Somer Johnson led all players with 18 kills while finishing with eight digs and four blocks. Nicole Rightnowar earned a match-high 21 digs to go along with nine kills. Natalie Seiler also had a match-high with five blocks while adding seven kills. Madison Jaqua dished out a game-high 31 assists while Olivia Hahn had 13 digs.
Denver began the match with a 9-0 advantage that the 'Dons were unable to comeback from. The second set had Fort Wayne leading 4-1 early but a 6-0 run by the Pioneers gave them the frame. With the score tied 22-22 in the third, the Mastodons responded with three straight points to take the set. Denver took a 7-1 lead to begin the final set as the 'Dons could not close the gap down the stretch.
Fort Wayne closes out its road trip with a match against South Dakota State on Sunday (October 30) at 2 pm. ET.
