'Dons Fall to South Dakota In Season Finale

VERMILLION, S.D. - Despite a second half goal from Katrina Sutherly, the Fort Wayne women's soccer team concluded its season with a 2-1 loss at South Dakota on Sunday (Oct. 30).
Fort Wayne finished the season 3-14-2, 0-6-2 Summit League with the loss, while South Dakota moved to 5-13-1, 4-4-0.
South Dakota struck first, getting the first of Corey Strang's two goals in the eighth minute and the second in the 71st. The second goal came by way of a penalty kick.
Sutherly got her third career goal on her last collegiate match for the Mastodons, dropping a free kick from outside the 18 into the top half of the net in the 77th minute of play.
Fort Wayne took five shots, two of which were on goal. Andie Lazzerini and Deanna Hecht both had two shots.
Haley Lydon played 78 minutes and recorded eight saves to round out her sophomore season.
