
Mastodons Finish Ninth at Kzoo Classic

PORTAGE, Mich. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team concluded the Kzoo Classic in ninth place with a final-round 330 to finish with a team score of 991.
Hosted by Western Michigan at the par-72, 6,163-yard The Moors Golf Club, Eastern Michigan captured the team title with a two-day score of 896. Hailey Hrynewich of Ohio won the individual medalist honors by seven strokes with a 54-hole score of 1-under-par 215.
Paige Bird, playing as an individual, led the Mastodons for the tournament, shooting an 85 on the final day to finish tied for 31st with a combined score of 244.
In the team scoring, Madison Chesnutt shot an 83 to finish the week at 245 and tie for 33rd place. Linnzie Richner tied for 38th with a two-day score of 248, after shooting an 84 on the day. Jenna Kurosky carded an 85 in the round to tie for 42nd overall with a 250 for the tournament. Monica Dorner led the 'Dons on the final day, shooting a 78 and recording a pair of birdied, to finish in 45th place with a 252. Candi Keller rounded out the team scoring for the Mastodons with an 87 to tie for 47th at 257.
Abigail Carlsen also played as an individual and recorded an 89 for the round and finish in 52nd place with a 54-hole score of 272.
Fort Wayne returns to action October 10-11 for the Rocket Classic hosted by Toledo.
