Mastodons Stampede Over In-State Rival IUPUI

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team put on a dominate showing Tuesday night (Nov. 1) as the Mastodons rolled over in-state rival IUPUI 3-0 (25-11, 26-24, 25-12).
Madison Jaqua and Nicole Rightnowar earned a double-double for the 'Dons in the win. Jaqua finished with a match-high 29 assists to go along with 10 digs, four kills, and tied a career-high with three blocks. Rightnowar had team high's with 11 kills and 14 digs. Somer Johnson earned 12 digs, nine kills and a pair of aces. Lauren Hoffman and Natasha Medic each had eight kills while Natalie Seiler added seven. Olivia Hahn capped off the night with 12 digs.
A 9-6 Mastodon lead in the first set quickly escalated as Fort Wayne dominated the set by closing it out on a 10-1 run. Trailing 23-20 in the second, the 'Dons battled back by scoring six of the final seven points and take a 2-0 lead in the match. It was more of the same for the Mastodons in the final set, as they never trailed before wrapping up the match on a 7-1 advantage.
Fort Wayne kicks off its final week at home against North Dakota State on Friday (Nov. 4) for a 7 p.m. first serve.
