
Chesnutt Leads Mastodons in Opening Round of Saluki Invite

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Through 18 holes at the Saluki Invitational, the IPFW women's golf team is tied for sixth place with a team score of 317.
Hosted by Southern Illinois at the par-72 Hickory Ridge Golf Course, the tournament is playing at 6,018 yards. The host Salukis hold a one-stroke lead with a 303. Brenna Lervick of South Dakota and Alison Gorman from SIUE are tied for the individual lead with rounds of 1-under-par 71.
IPFW and South Dakota are tied for sixth place, 10 shots back of fifth place and fellow Summit League opponent IUPUI.
Madison Chesnutt paced the 'Dons, carding her second-lowest round of the season, a 77, to end the day tied for 18th place. Brenna Sherwood enters the final day tied for 29th after shooting a 79 for the opening round. One shot separated Abigail Carlsen and Jenna Kurosky, finishing with rounds of 80 and 81, respectively. Carlsen is tied for 34th while Kurosky is tied for 39th. Candi Keller wrapped up the team scoring for the Mastodons with a round of 88 and finish tied for 70th place.
Paige Bird and Maggie Connelly are playing as individuals for the 'Dons. Bird fired a 79 on the day and is tied for 29th while Connelly finished tied for 82nd with a score of 93.
The final round of the Saluki Invitational will be a 10 a.m. ET shotgun start on March 28.
