Mastodons Ninth on Day One of Summit League Championship

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - After the opening round of the Summit League Championship, the IPFW women's golf team sits in ninth place with a team score of 334.
Played at the par-72, 6,179-yard Arbor Links Golf Club, Denver is in first place after day one with a 20-stroke lead, shooting a team score of 7-over-par 295. Jessica Carty also of Denver ended the round atop of individual leaderboard with a 3-under-par 69.
The Mastodons are six strokes back of Omaha and are within 19 strokes of seven other teams.
Madison Chesnutt led the 'Dons on the day, shooting a 6-over-par 78 to enter round two tied for 10th place. Chesnutt was 1-under-par through nine holes, recording three birdies on her first five holes.
Three strokes separated the other four IPFW golfers. Abigail Carlsen carded an 84 for the round, finishing tied for 30th. Candi Keller and Jenna Kurosky are tied for 37th with rounds of 86, respectively. Brenna Sherwood finished off the scoring for the 'Dons with an 87, including a birdie on the par-4, 371-yard No. 9, to end the round tied for 41st.
The second round of the Summit League Championship will begin at 9 a.m. ET on April 19 off hole No. 1 at the Arbor Links Golf Club.
