Mastodons Drop Opening Match of the BGSU Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Although the Fort Wayne women's volleyball team fell to Bowling Green 3-0 (25-15, 27-25, 26-24) Friday night (Sept. 2), the Mastodons fought till the end as the two teams traded 10 leads and 32 ties on the night.
Somer Johnson led the 'Dons with 12 kills to go along with nine digs. Nicole Rightnowar finished with 10 kills and Natasha Medic added seven. Madison Jaqua led the way with 32 assists while Olivia Hahn made 13 digs.
Up early in the first set, the Mastodons were unable to hang on to the lead as BGSU used a 12-3 run to put the set away. Both sides had set-point opportunities in the second, but it was the Falcons who scored the final three points of the frame to win it. The final set went in a similar fashion as Bowling Green scored three consecutive points with the score tied 24-24 to win the match.
Fort Wayne returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 3) at 12:30 p.m. for its final match of the BGSU Invitational against Northern Kentucky.
