
Women's Golf Sets Multiple Records at Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team set multiple program records, including lowest team score for a 54-hole event, as the Mastodons carded a 956 to finish 16th at the Cardinal Classic.
Hosted by Ball State at The Players Club at Woodland Trails, the par-72 course was played at 6,204 yards. Eastern Kentucky captured the team title by eight shots over Toledo with an 874. EKU's Elsa Moberly also took home the individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 5-under-par 211.
Fort Wayne's two-day score of 956 broke the previous mark of 963 set at the 2012 Summit League Championship. The final-round team score of 316 also set a team record for best third round score and tied for the eighth lowest team round ever.
Candi Keller carded a 79 on the final day to shoot a 236 for the tournament and finish tied for 54th. Keller's 54-hole score is tied for the third lowest by a Mastodon golfer and tied for the lowest 54-hole score by a Fort Wayne senior.
Madison Chesnutt and Abigail Carlsen each shot a 77 on the final day to finish tied for 70th with scores of 240. For the duo, their final-round 77 is tied for the third lowest third round score in program history. Carlsen's two-day total is the lowest score for a Mastodon sophomore while Chesnutt shot the second lowest 54-hole score for a junior.
Monica Dorner capped off her tournament with an 83 to finish with a three-round score of 244 to finish tied for 79th. Paige Bird rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons with an 83 on the day and 250 for the classic to place 85th.
Fort Wayne returns to action October 3-4 for the Kzoo Classic hosted by Western Michigan as The Moors Golf Club.
