Fort Wayne Falls 2-1 in Road Match at IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS - On the chilly and windy Sunday (Oct. 15) afternoon in the state capital, the Fort Wayne women's soccer team fell to IUPUI 2-1 at Carroll Stadium.
IUPUI controlled the first 20 minutes of the match, and got the first goal in minute 24 from Krissy Kirkhoff. Just 47 seconds later, Jessica Schoenfeldt knocked in a shot from eight yards out. Kendall Quinn sent in the ball from outside the 18-yard box to Schoenfeldt in a scrum. Fort wayne would go on to control the pace of the rest of the first half to hold the Jaguars from scoring in the half again.
Kirkhoff scored for the Jaguars in the second half, knocking in a shot from 15 yards out in minute 62. Hannah Kroger had a dangerous attempt in an equalizer with a free kick just outside of the 18 with 10 minutes left in the match.
Emma Gaggioli snagged a career-high 13 saves in goal.
Fort Wayne falls to 1-13-0 (0-3-0 Summit League) and IUPUI improves to 13-3-0 (6-0-0 Horizon League). Fort Wayne is back in action on Thursday (Oct. 19) when the 'Dons face South Dakota State at 7 p.m. EST in Brookings, S.D.
