FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team dropped a home contest to Oral Roberts 3-1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16).
Sydney Boerst and Katie Crowe led the Mastodons with 11 kills, respectively. Boerst also led the team with four blocks. Elizabeth Fuerst finished with nine kills while Lauren Hoffman had seven. Madison Jaqua led the 'Dons with 25 assists and Victoria Mills dished out 15. Julia Wayer had a match and career-high 23 digs as Nicole Rightnowar finished with 14.
Fort Wayne scored the opening point of the match, but Oral Roberts caught fire in the middle of the set, putting together a 6-0 run to take the frame. The Mastodons never trailed in the second set as they score the first four points and refused to let ORU back in it. The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 5-1 advantage in the third, before closing out the set with three consecutive points. Oral Roberts scored the first two points of the fourth set as it never trailed, winning the set and the match.
Fort Wayne returns to action tomorrow, October 21, at 7 p.m. when the Mastodons host Denver for their annual Pink Out match to benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation.
