Three Mastodons Earn a Double-Double at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. - Three Fort Wayne women's volleyball players earned a double-double, but the Mastodons were unable to pick up the victory, falling at Omaha 3-1 (27-29, 27-25, 25-16, 25-23).
Madison Jaqua earned her third straight double-double as Katie Crowe and Nicole Rightnowar also earned double-doubles on the night. Jaqua finished with 19 assists to go along with 11 digs. Crowe and Rightnowar each had 12 kills to lead the 'Dons, while Rightnowar had 19 digs and Crowe earned 17.
Elizabeth Britner led the Mastodons with a match-high 23 digs as Victoria Mills led the team with 24 assists. Sydney Boerst led Fort Wayne with six blocks.
The Mastodons led most of the way through the first set, until up 21-20, Omaha scored three straight. The 'Dons fought back, and with the score tied 27-27, used a pair of Maverick errors to take the opening set. The second set would again go to extra points, but this time with the score tied 25-25, UNO scored the final two points. Omaha sprinted out to a 6-1 lead in the third set as the 'Dons were unable to come within striking distance down the stretch. It came down to the final few points again in the fourth, as UNO unknotted the tie with the final two points to win the match.
Fort Wayne's road trip continues when it travels to North Dakota State on Friday, November 3 for an 8 p.m. ET match.
