
Mastodons Split Day One of Match Play Challenge

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team kicked off the Mid-American Match Play Challenge by splitting its matches as the Mastodons fell to Florida Gulf Coast 5-0 before defeating Dayton 3-2.
In the afternoon match against the Flyers, Madison Chesnutt clinched the win for the 'Dons, putting-out for eagle on 18 to win 1-up. Chesnutt trailed most of the match, but caught fire at the end, winning the final three holes. Linnzie Richner dominated her match, winning 7&6. Jenna Kurosky also picked up the victory in her pairing 4&3. Monica Dorner was defeated 4&2 while Paige Bird dropped her match 3&2.
Against FGCU, Kurosky put up the closest match of the morning, falling 1-up. Richner and Dorner each dropped their matches 4&3, while Bird and Chesnutt fell 6&5.
Fort Wayne closes out the Mid-American Match Play Challenge against Central Michigan with tee times set for 9 a.m.
