Women's Golf Defeats Central Michigan on Final Day of Match Play

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team defeated Central Michigan 3-1-1 during its final day of the Women's Mid-American Match Play Challenge.
Hosted at the par-72, 6,068-yard Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, the Mastodons finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.
Monica Dorner dominated her match at the No. 2 pairings, defeating Danielle Sawyer 5&4. Dorner never trailed the match, winning five of her final six holes, cruising to victory. Paige Bird trailed most of her match at No. 3, before winning back-to-back holes, Nos. 16 and 17, to earn the victory 1-up. Linnzie Richner also pulled off the comeback at the No. 5 matchup. Down by two heading to the 14th hole, Richner won three straight to hold off her opponent.
Jenna Kurosky finished all square in her No. 4 match, but trailed by three at one point. Kurosky won back-to-back holes on Nos. 14 and 15 to square the match. The lone loss for the Mastodons came at the No. 1 pairing as Madison Chesnutt fell 1-up.
Fort Wayne returns to Florida March 8-9 for the Bulldog Florida Invitational at the Windsor Parke Golf Club.
