Schroeder Shoots 2-Under to Lead Fort Wayne on Final Day

SAVANNAH, Ga. - On the final day of The Invitational at Savannah Harbor, the Fort Wayne men's golf team carded a 296 to place ninth with a two-day score of 896. The Mastodons were one shot back of eighth place Butler and came in ahead of Northern Kentucky, Savannah State, Florida A&M, Brown, and Valparaiso.
Hosted by William & Mary at the par-72 The Club at Savannah Harbor, the tournament was played at 7,287 yards. The host Pride won the team trophy with a total score of 12-under-par 852. Austin Morrison also from William & Mary captured the individual medalist honors with a two-day total of 6-under par 210.
Zach Schroeder recorded the lowest score of the day for the 'Dons, a 2-under-par 70, to tie for 14th place with a total score of 219. Schroeder also led the team with four birdies for the round. Cody White tied for 36th with a 54-hole score of 225. White finished the day at even-par, which included a trio of birdies. Josh Keating tied for 46th at 228, but recorded the team's only eagle on No. 4, a 533-yard par-5. Devin Jenkins finished the week tied for 49th with a two-day score of 229. Dan Wert capped off the team scoring for the Mastodons, shooting a 232 to tie for 58th.
Playing as an individual, David Watterson tied for 58th with a 232.
Next up, Fort Wayne travels to the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational in Daytona Beach, Florida, March 2 and 3.
