'Dons 7th at Championship, Schroeder Named All-Tournament Team

NEWTON, Kan. - The Fort Wayne men's golf team carded a team score of 3-under-par 285 on the final day of The Summit League Championship to finish seventh with a 54-hole score of 891. Zach Schroeder was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing tied for fourth place.
Played at the par-72, 6,733-yard Sand Creek Station Golf Club, South Dakota State captured the team title with a two-day score of 877. Grant Smith also from SDSU earned the individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 214.
Fort Wayne finished the tournament three strokes back of sixth place Denver and only 10 back of third place. The team's final-round 285 is the second lowest par-72 round in team history, topped only by a 283 during the 2011 Summit League Championship.
Schroeder's final round had a team-best five birdies to finish the day at 2-under-par 70. He tied for fourth with a two-day score of 1-over-par 217, becoming the second Mastodon to be named to the All-Tournament team. Schroeder also finished the season with a new program scoring average of 73.61, surpassing the old mark of 74.38 by E.J. Tackett from 2012-13.
Playing in his final collegiate round, Devin Jenkins carded a 1-under-par 71, including four birdies, to finish the week tied for 13th with a 222. David Watterson also capped off his Mastodon career shooting a 1-over-par 73 for the day and finish tied for 23rd for a 54-hole score of 224. Josh Keating recorded four birdies for the round to finish at 1-under-par 71 and tie for 35th with a score of 228. Cody White rounds out the Fort Wayne scoring with a 79 on the day and a 236 for the tournament, tying for 40th overall.
