Women's Golf Ties for Ninth at Season Opening Tournament

BATAVIA, Ohio - The Fort Wayne women's golf team carded a team score of 330 on the final day of the NKU Fall Classic to finish tied for ninth place with Belmont.
Hosted by Northern Kentucky at the Elks Run Golf Club, a 6,053 yard par-71, UNC Asheville won the team title by four strokes with a two-day total of 914. Ellie Cronin from Dayton captured the individual medalist honors, winning by one shot, with a 54-hole score of 9-over-par 222.
The tournament was delayed midway through the round due to rain, before resuming a few hours later. The Mastodons finished seven strokes back of eighth place NKU.
Madison Chesnutt led the 'Dons on the final day with a 79, to finish tied for 13th with a two-day score of 233. Abigail Carlsen led the team with two birdies in the round to finish with a 242 and tie for 40th place. Two shots back in a tie for 44th place was Monica Dorner. Jenna Kurosky stood alone in 46th place with a 54-hole score of 246. Linnzie Richner shot a 248 for the tournament and tied for 49th to round out the team scoring.
Fort Wayne next competes at the Cardinal Classic September 18-19 hosted by Ball State.
