Dorner Leads Mastodons Through First Day of Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's golf teams carded rounds of 322-311-633 during the opening day of the Cardinal Classic, finishing in 18th place.
Hosted by Ball State at the par-72, 6,204-yard The Players Club, Indianapolis holds a seven shot lead over the field with a two-round score of 569. Akron's Jacinta Pikunas leads the individual field by three strokes with a 6-under-par 138.
The Mastodons sit 11 shots back of 16th place NKU and four back of 17th place Dayton.
Monica Dorner led the 'Dons on the day with rounds of 75-79-154 and is tied for 54th place. Madison Chesnutt carded five birdies on the day, all of which came in the second round, to finish tied for 66th with scores of 82-74-156. Tied for 86th overall is Jenna Kurosky, carding totals of 84-77-161. One shot back in a tie for 92nd is Linnzie Richner, shooting rounds of 81-81-162. Abigail Carlsen finished her day with five birdies, tying for 94th and recording scores of 84-81-165
The final round of the Cardinal Classic will tee off tomorrow, September 19, at 9 a.m.
