
Fort Wayne Drops Road Contest to Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Despite scoring two goals within 30 seconds of each other, the Fort Wayne women's soccer team dropped a road contest at Eastern Illinois on Friday (Sept 8) with a final overtime score of 3-2.
The Panthers scored two goals in two minutes in the first half, the first at the 36-minute mark, the second coming in the 38th minute.
In the 29th minute, Gabrielle Fanning had a chance at a goal with a one-on-one situation, but the Eastern Illinois keeper snagged the ball above her head.
In the second half, the 'Dons trailed for the majority of the period, but Chloee Foor netted an unassisted goal in the 80th minute. Jessica Schoenfeldt would then score a goal from Kallianne Mogler 28 seconds later. The 'Dons would hold the Panthers scoreless for the entirety of the second half to send the game into overtime.
Chani Warfield had two shots in the first overtime that were good attempts, but one was blocked and the other was just wide right.
In the final overtime, Kate Olson scored the goal after a free kick just outside the 18-yard line.
Fort Wayne falls to 0-6-0 while the Panthers improve to 4-2-1. Fort Wayne returns to the field on Sunday, when the Valparaiso Crusaders visit Fort Wayne at 1 p.m. at Hefner Soccer Complex.
