Jaqua Reaches 4,000 Assists as Mastodons Drops Road Match

DENVER - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team put up a fight early against the defending Summit League champion Denver Pioneers, but the Mastodons were unable fend them off, falling 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19).
Madison Jaqua had 13 assists to lead the 'Dons. Midway through the first set, Jaqua earned the 4,000th assist of her career. She becomes the sixth Mastodon player to reach the mark, and only the 13th in Summit League History.
Elizabeth Britner led all players with a match-high 15 digs. Katie Crowe also finished in double-digits with 11 digs. Je'Bria Green had a team-high four blocks. Nicole Rightnowar led the way with 10 kills. Madelyn Wurster made her first career start, finishing with a career-high nine kills.
The Mastodons jumped on the Pioneers, leading early on in the first set. Up 13-11, Denver scored the next four points, and nine of the next 11, to take the opening set. The 'Dons hung with the Pios through the early points of the second, but a 5-1 run by Denver extended its lead for good. The Pioneers went up 4-1 in the third as the Mastodons could not make the comeback.
Purdue Fort Wayne travels to South Dakota State Sunday, October 14, for a 2 p.m. ET match.
