Jaqua Earns 1,000th Career Dig as 'Dons Fall to Yotes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball dropped a Sunday matinee contest to the visiting South Dakota Coyotes 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-22).
Madison Jaqua finished with a double-double, 23 assists and 10 digs. Jaqua earned her 1,000th career dig in the match, becoming the 21st Mastodon to accomplish the feat. Nicole Rightnowar also earned a double-double with a team-high 10 kills and 22 digs. Elizabeth Fuerst added nine kills for the Mastodons. Defensively, Elizabeth Britner finished with 16 digs and Katie Crowe added 15.
A back-and-forth opening set saw both teams use extended runs. Down 24-22, the Mastodons tied the score at 24, but the Coyotes finished off the set with the next two points. The two sides exchanged 3-0 runs to begin the second set. Later, USD used a 10-2 advantage to put the set out of reach. In the third, the two teams again began the set by scoring three straight points. After trading leads, and with the score tied 22-22, South Dakota scored the final three points to win the match.
