Mastodons Sweep Fighting Hawks in Road Match

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team went on the road and earned a sweep over North Dakota 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23).
The Mastodons were led offensively by Katie Crowe and Sydney Boerst with 13 kills apiece. Nicole Rightnowar finished with 11 kills, as Madelyn Wurster added nine and Elizabeth Fuerst had eight. Fuerst, Rightnowar and Boerst all hit over .400 for the match, with Rightnowar's .435 a career-high. Boerst hit over .500 for the sixth time this season. Madison Jaqua and Victoria Mills had near identical matches, as Jaqua finished with 24 assists and nine digs, and 23 assists and eight digs for Mills. Elizabeth Britner led all played with 21 digs. Rightnowar added 11 digs and Crowe finished with 10 to earn them a double-double.
With the score tied 8-8 in the first set, the Mastodons scored three straight points to give them the lead. Late in the set, UND scored five straight points to tie it again at 20-20. The Mastodons ended the set by scoring three straight points on kills from Boerst, Fuerst and Rightnowar. Tied 4-4 in the second, the 'Dons used an 8-2 advantage to go out in front and take the set. Purdue Fort Wayne fought its way back after trailing most of the third set. Down 19-16, the Mastodons used a 4-0 run to take its first lead of the set. The two sides traded points from there as the 'Dons scored three of the final four points to win the match.
Purdue Fort Wayne closes out its road schedule when the Mastodons travel to North Dakota State tomorrow, November 4, for a 2 p.m. ET match.
