Women's Volleyball Takes Down Bison, Sweeps Road Trip

FARGO, N.D. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team wrap up its road trip the best way it knew how, by taking down host North Dakota State 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23). The Mastodons improved their record to 16-12 on the season and 7-7 in Summit League play.
Sydney Boerst led all played with 16 kills and a.583 hitting percentage, while leading the team with four blocks. Elizabeth Fuerst had 14 kills and Madelyn Wurster had a season-high 14 kills. Nicole Rightnowar and Je'Bria Green each added 10 kills. Rightnowar earned a double-double, adding 12 digs. Madison Jaqua led the 'Dons with 35 assists. Elizabeth Britner led the defensive effort with a match-high 20 digs.
The Mastodons never trailed in the opening set, beginning the match with a 9-4 advantage as they never let the Bison get close. The 'Dons finished with 21 kills in the first set while hitting .410.
The teams traded leads in the second set, but with the score tied 18-18, NDSU scored the next two points as it closed out the set by scoring seven of the final 10 points. The third set would echo how the first set went, with the Mastodons jumping out to the early lead and never trail. The Bison would tie the score at 23-23, but the 'Dons closed things out with a kill from Boerst and a double block by Rightnowar and Boerst. Tied 5-5 in the fourth, the Mastodons scored six straight points as they took the lead for good. The Bison tied it at 23-23, but the 'Dons won the match on a pair of attack errors by NDSU.
Purdue Fort Wayne returns home to close out the regular season with a pair of matches, beginning with South Dakota State on Friday, November 9 at 7 p.m.
