Women's Volleyball Clinches No. 4 Seed With Sweep of SDSU

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne swept its way past the visiting South Dakota State Jackrabbits 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-18), and in the process locked up the No. 4 seed in The Summit League Tournament next week. The Mastodons improved their season record to 17-12 overall and 8-7 in league play.
The 'Dons clinches the No. 4 seed after their win and Oral Roberts lost to North Dakota State.
Madelyn Wurster led the Mastodons on the night with nine kills. Je'Bria Green and Nicole Rightnowar each added eight kills, and Sydney Boerst finished with seven. Boerst hit a match-high .545, while Green led the Mastodons with five blocks.
Rightnowar led the team with a match-high 16 digs. Madison Jaqua dished out a team-high 19 assists and Elizabeth Britner tied a career-high with three aces.
The Mastodons never trailed in the opening set, as they score the first three points and held a 7-1 advantage. Trailing 3-2 in the second set, the 'Dons used a 9-0 run to propel them into the lead and take the set. The Mastodons trailed 9-7 in the third, but they responded with four straight points, three of which came on consecutive aces by Britner, as they took the set and the match.
The Mastodon defense held the Jackrabbits to a zero hitting percentage, including a -.054 percent in second set.
Purdue Fort Wayne closes out the regular season when it hosts Denver on Sunday, November 11, for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
