Women's Volleyball Honors Five Mastodons on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team honored its five seniors prior to its match against Denver on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 11), but the Mastodons were unable to knock off the Summit League champs, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20).
Before the match, the Mastodons honored their senior student-athletes in Victoria Mills, Elizabeth Britner, Sydney Cox, Nicole Rightnowar, and Madison Jaqua.
The seniors led the 'Dons in kills, assists, and digs on the afternoon. Rightnowar had a team-high 12 kills, Jaqua led the team with a match-high 22 assists, and Britner led the way with 12 digs.
The opening set saw a back-and-forth battle, as the teams exchanged seven leads and 14 ties. With the score tied 18-18, Denver won the next three points to take the set. The Pioneers jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second set, as the Mastodons were unable to pull any closer down the stretch. The 'Dons scored the opening point of the third, but Denver used a 6-1 advantage to go out in front. The Mastodons battled back thanks to a 13-4 advantage and lead 15-10. The 'Dons were unable to hang on, as the Pioneers came back with an 11-2 run to retake the lead and win the match.
With the regular season concluded, Purdue Fort Wayne turns its attention to The Summit League Championship, where the Mastodons will face North Dakota on Friday, November 16 at 5 p.m. ET.
