Mastodons Fall to Bison at Home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team dropped the final match of its weekend homestand, as the Mastodons fell to North Dakota State 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23).
Elizabeth Fuerst led the Mastodon offense with a match-high 15 kills. Nicole Rightnowar finished with 12 kills and a match-high 18 digs. Madelyn Wurster came off the bench to earn a season-high eight kills. Madison Jaqua earned a double-double with 31 assists and 13 digs. Julia Wayer ended her night with a season-high 14 digs.
The Mastodons scored the first four points of the match, but the Bison fought back to take the lead 21-20. The 'Dons scored the next three points to win the set. The Mastodons led midway through the second set, but a 6-0 run by NDSU gave them the frame. Tied 5-5 in the third, the Bison scored four straight points to take a lead they would not surrender. NDSU scored the first two points of the fourth as they never relinquished the early lead, taking the set and the match.
Purdue Fort Wayne hits the road for a pair of matches, beginning with Denver Friday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
