Anderson and Richner Pace Mastodons During Opening Round

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Through one round at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team is in 10th place with a 327. The first round was shortened to 18 holes due to heavy early morning fog.
Hosted by Eastern Michigan at the Eagle Crest Golf Course, the par-72 course is being played at 6,176 yards. Bowling Green leads the field with a 297. Kaylee Neumeister from Cleveland State and Sophia Trombetta of Michigan are tied for the individual lead with a 2-under-par 70.
The Mastodons enter the final round six shots back of ninth place Dayton.
Holly Anderson led the 'Dons on the day with a pair of birdies to finish at 4-over-par 76 and is tied for 15th. Two shots back in a tie for 21st place is Linnzie Richner. She carded her lone birdie of the day on the par-3, 160-yard No. 17. Emma Schroeder also birdied No. 17 to finish the day with an 85 and sit in a tie for 56th. Paige Bird is tied for 59th place with an 88. Kennedy Brooker rounds out the team scoring with a 93 and is in 61st place. Brooker also carded a birdie, coming on No. 14, a 172-yard par-3.
Playing as an individual, Abigail Carlsen carded an 81 for the round and is tied for 44th.
