SCOUTING OHIO STATE
The Ohio State Buckeyes started their season with a win over Cincinnati 64-56. Sophomore Kaleb Wesson led the team with 15 points and Kyle Young led with eight rebounds.
THE SERIES
First meeting. The 'Dons are 2-19 all-time against Big Ten schools. Both wins have come over Indiana, giving the 'Dons a two-game win streak over Big Ten members entering Sunday's contest.
VOLLEYBALL RIVALRY
While this is the first basketball meeting with Ohio State, the two schools have a long men's volleyball rivalry with over 100 meetings as conference members in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. The men's volleyball series dates back to 1980 with Ohio State leading 78-37.
LAST TIME OUT
The Mastodons defeated the NCAA Division III member Earlham Quakers 112-51 on Thursday, Nov. 8. Five players scored in double-digits with freshman Jarred Godfrey leading the team with 23 points.
ON THE EARLHAM WIN
• Freshman Jarred Godfrey (23 points) is the first Mastodon freshman to score 20 points in a game since John Konchar did it four times as a redshirt freshman in 2015-16. Godfrey is the first true freshman to hit the 20 mark since Mo Evans scored 22 against Purdue Calumet on Nov. 20, 2013. It is a good sign for Godfrey, as Evans finished his career third all-time in scoring (1,522) and Konchar is currently fifth (1,465).

• 'Dons came up two shy of the record 114 points they scored against Defiance last year.
• Thursday's win over Earlham tied for the second most field goals in a game (41).

IT HAS BEEN A LONG JOURNEY FROM MILAN TO FORT WAYNE
Purdue Fort Wayne went on a foreign tour to Italy from August 6-16th. The 'Dons played three games and traveled to Milan, Vicenza, Venice, Florence and Rome among other cities.

Jon Coffman owns a career record of 79-54. It is the third most wins of any coach in program history. He is second in the Division I era, only short of Dane Fife's 82-97 mark from 2005-11. Andy Piazza's 143-109 record from 1987-96 is the all-time win leader. Coffman's .594 winning percentage is already the best for any coach in program history.
