Carlsen and Bird Victorious on Final Day of Match Play

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - Paige Bird and Abigail Carlsen were victorious for the Fort Wayne women's golf team on the final day of the Women's Mid American Match Play Challenge, but the Mastodons fell to the No. 10 seed Dayton 3-2.
Hosted by Bowling Green at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, the par-72 course was played at 6,068 yards.
In the final round of the match play event, Bird defeated Dayton's Makenzie George at the fifth position with a par on the 16th hole to hold on to a 1-up victory. Bird finished undefeated (3-0) for the tournament. It came down to the final hole for the Mastodon's Carlsen and Dayton's Alexandra Bozich in the No. 4 pairing. Carlsen birdied the par-5 18th to capture the 1-up victory. Jenna Kurosky and Madison Chesnutt each dropped their matchups 3&2, respectively. Monica Dorner fell in the No. 2 spot to Emma Meyer 4&2.
