Mastodons Wrap Up Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team carded a team score of 324 on the final day of the Spring Break Shootout to finish 13th with a 54-hole score of 961.
Co-hosted by Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast at the Lake Jovita Golf Club, the par-72 course was played at 6,239 yards. WKU captured the team title with a two-day score of 880. Mary Joiner also of the Hilltoppers carded a 4-under-par 212 to capture the individual medalist honors by eight shots.
As a team Fort Wayne finished 16 strokes back of Ohio and 36 shots better than Lipscomb.
Madison Chesnutt and Abigail Carlsen led the way on the day with rounds of 80. Chesnutt, Carlsen and Linnzie Richner tied for the team lead with a 54-hole score of 240, to tie for 54th place. Monica Dorner finished two strokes back in a tie for 61st after shooting a final-round 84. Jenna Kurosky rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons with an 83 for the day to finish in 73rd place with a 249.
Playing as an individual, Paige Bird shot a team-best 79 for the round to wrap up the tournament with a 240 and tie for 54th place.
Fort Wayne returns to action March 25-26 for the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois.
