Women's Golf Breaks Two School Records

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team broke two programs records during the first day of its home tournament, the Fort Wayne Spring Classic. The Mastodons carded a 291 during the second round after a 307 in the first, to finish the day in third place with a combined score of 598.
Fort Wayne's mark of 291 destroyed the old 18-hole record by 10 shots, set in 2007. The team also shattered the 36-hole record that was set in 2012 by nine shots.
Held at the Brookwood Golf Club, the par-72 course is being played at 6,056 yards. UIndy leads the team standings with a 14-under-par 562 after two rounds. Katharina Keilich also of UIndy carded a 6-under-par 138 to land her in first place on the individual leaderboard.
Jenna Kurosky led Fort Wayne with a 74-73-147, which put her in sixth place. Paige Bird finished with 77-72-149 to put her in eighth. Madison Chesnutt was only one stroke back with scores of 78 and 72 to land her tied for ninth. The 72's by Bird and Chesnutt during the second round were one shot off the team record of 71. Kurosky's 36-hole score of 147 was also one shot off the team record.
Monica Dorner ended day one tying in 15th place with rounds of 78-75-151. Abigail Carlsen finished the team score shooting an 81-74-155 to put her in 19th.
Playing as individuals, Linnzie Richner tied for 25th place with rounds of 80 for a 160 on the day. Maggie Connelly scored 82-84-166 for a tie in 29th place. Hannah Jennings went 94-89-183 to put her in 37th.
The final round of the Fort Wayne Spring Classic will start tomorrow, April 3, at 9 a.m. at the Brookwood Golf Club.
