Mastodons Honored At 2018 Masty Awards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On Sunday (April 22) evening at the Rhinehart Music Center, Fort Wayne Mastodon student-athletes and program contributors were celebrated during the annual Masty Awards. For the first time, student-athletes served as emcees for the event, with Damian Helm (baseball), Clark Tiller (men's golf), Elizabeth Britner (women's volleyball), Victoria Mills (women's volleyball), Madison Jaqua (women's volleyball) and Olivia Coleman (women's track and field) hosting the event.
The event provided recognition for the achievements – both athletically and academically – of Fort Wayne's sports teams during the 2017-18 academic year. The event also recognized each team's seniors. Awards presented include:
Male Athlete of the Year – John Konchar (men's basketball)
Female Athlete of the Year – Emma Rafuse (women's cross country/track & field)
Senior Male Athlete of the Year – Bryson Scott (men's basketball)
Senior Female Athlete of the Year – Kallianne Mogler (women's soccer)
Freshman Male Athlete of the Year – Eric Brinker (men's golf)
Freshman Female Athlete of the Year – Katie Crowe (women's volleyball)
Fan of the Year – Brian Geist
Volunteer of the Year – Tracy Coffman
David R. Skelton Skelton Award – Kurt Unger (men's cross country)

Best Play – Jack Carlson (men's volleyball) – one handed save against Loras
Most Studious – Lauren Watson (softball)
Best International Athlete – Maria Palmegiani (softball)
Best Record Breaking Performance – Emma Rafuse (women's cross country and track and field)
Best Facial Expression – Pelegrin Vargas (men's volleyball)
Gym Rat Award – John Konchar (men's basketball)

Chi Alpha (student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.40 in 60 or more credit hours to be inducted)
