Anderson Shoots 1-Under-Par on Opening Day of the Season

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The season got underway for the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team as the Mastodons ended the first round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in fifth place with a combined score of 320.
Hosted by Youngstown State at the par-72, 5,957-yard Mill Creek Park - North Course, the host Penguins lead the team standings with a 286, eight shots better than Marshall. Katlyn Shutt, also of YSU, has a two-shot lead over the field with a 4-under-par 68.
The 'Dons enter the final round five shots back of Indiana State, and one shot up on both Niagara and Saint Francis (Pa.).
Holly Anderson paved the way for the Mastodons playing as an individual. She carded the third lowest round on the day, shooting a 1-under-par 71.
Leading the way for the Mastodon team scoring was Paige Bird, carding a 5-over-par 77 and is tied for 17th place. One shot back in a tie for 20th is Abigail Carlsen. Freshmen Emma Schroeder and Kennedy Brooker are separated by one shot, carding rounds of 82 and 83, respectively. Schroeder is tied for 32nd place while Brooker is tied for 36th. Linnzie Richner rounded out the team scoring for the Mastodons with an 85 and enters the final day tied for 42nd.
