Mastodons Finish Sixth to Open The Season

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team closed out its first tournament of the season finishing in sixth place at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, with a 36-hole score of 634.
Hosted by Youngstown State at the par-72, 5,957-yard Mill Creek Park - North Course, the host Penguins captured the team title with a two-day score of 577. Katlyn Shutt, also of YSU, carded a 12-under-par 132 to run away with the individual medalist honors.
The Mastodons finished the week two shots back of fifth place Saint Francis (Pa.).
Abigail Carlsen led the team scoring on the final day, shooting a 78 to finish tied for 19th place with a score of 156. Emma Schroeder carded a 79 to finish at 161 for the tournament and tie for 30th. One shot back and also shooting a 79 is Kennedy Brooker, finishing in a tie for 32nd. Linnzie Richner was one shot back of Brooker, carding a 78 for the round to end the week tied for 35th place. Paige Bird rounded out the team scoring with an 88 to shoot a 165 for the week and place 40th.
Playing as an individual, Holly Anderson finished the tournament in a tie for 16th place after shooting an 83 on the day and a 154 for the week.
Purdue Fort Wayne returns to action September 17-18 for the Cardinal Classic in Yorktown, Indiana.
