Men's Golf Has Play Suspended During Second Round

HENRYVILLE, Ind. - Play was suspended during the second round of the Fuzzy Zoeller Intercollegiate, as the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team finished the first round in seventh place with a 292.
Hosted by Indiana University at the par-72 Champions Pointe Golf Club, the course is being played at 7,174 yards. Southern Illinois leads the field by six shots with a 275. Matthis Besard of SIU and Pablo Heredia Iglesias of Bowling Green are tied for the individual lead with a 6-under-par 66.
The Mastodons sit one shot back of three teams that are tied for fourth place.
Zach Schroeder led the 'Dons during the first round, carding a 1-under-par 70 and is tied for ninth place. He carded four birdies on the front nine to finish at 3-under par. Callahan Elzey carded three birdies on the front nine, as he finished the day with an even-par 72 and is tied for 18th. Cody White and Eric Brinker each carded three birdies in the round as they are tied for 48th place with a 3-over-par 75. Parker Deakyne rounded out the team scoring with a 78, which included three birdies, to finish the round tied for 65th.
Playing as an individual, Zac Turi carded an 80 and is tied for 72nd place.
Play resumes tomorrow, September 9, at 8:30 a.m.
