FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team heads to Detroit Mercy on Sunday for a match with the Titans on their home field.

Scouting the Mastodons (2-4-1, 0-0-0 Summit League)
The Mastodons are coming off their second win of the season, which came on Friday (Sept. 7) in 1-0 fashion over Youngstown State. Lorah Pund picked up her first solo shutout in her first career start with Kayla Wisniewski scoring the game-winning goal for the 'Dons. Wisniewski leads the team with two goals and Hannah Kroger leads with two assists.
Scouting the Titans (2-3-1, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
Coming off a 4-13-1 season, the Titans are off to a 2-3-1 start in 2018. They are led by Julie Ann Piechocki, who has two of the three goals and one of the three assists that the Titans have this year. Marina Manzo has played all available minutes in goal, holding a 1.56 goals-against average with two shutouts. Detroit Mercy has wins over Central Michigan and Toledo.
When We Last Met
Detroit took a 3-0 win over the Mastodons in 2017, with then-freshman Rachel Russo scoring all three for the Titans. The Titans only had four shots on goal, but Russo managed to score on each of her on-target attempts. The 'Dons led in shots 16-6, led by three shots from Deanna Hecht and Jessica Schoenfeldt.
On the Horizon
Detroit Mercy is the second Horizon League school that Purdue Fort Wayne will face this season. The Mastodons are coming off a 1-0 win over Youngstown State, a fellow member of the Horizon.

Four different Mastodons have scored at least one goal this season. Kendall Quinn, Kayla Wisniewski, Kailyn Wade and Deanna Hecht have all found the back of the net. Fleming is Fast
Senior Paityn Fleming holds the record for the fastest goal scored in a Mastodon uniform. She scored in 28 seconds after the opening kick against Denver on October 27, 2017. Fleming surpassed former teammate Gaby Romo for the fastest goal, who scored in 34 seconds against IUPUI in 2016.

Purdue Fort Wayne took a 1-0 victory over the Youngstown State Penguins on Friday (Sept. 7). Freshman Kayla Wisniewski scored the game-winning goal for the Mastodons in the 29th minute, and Fort Wayne native Lorah Pund earned the shutout for the 'Dons in her first career start.
