Mastodons Earn Draw Against Omaha

FORT WAYNE, Ind.. – Rain and snow didn't stop the Mastodons from earning a 1-1 result against the Omaha Mavericks on Thursday (Oct. 31) at the Warrior Athletic Field. Rain had forced the match to be played at Indiana Tech.
The Mavericks scored in the first nine minutes of the game for an early lead (1-0).
In the second half, the 'Dons came out and controlled the ball in their attacking half. In the 71st minute Kayla Wisniewski broke away from the defenders for a one-on-one match up with the Mavericks goalie, Wisniewski was able to take a shot to the lower left corner and found the back of the net, tying up the match 1-1. This was the ninth goal of her career, putting her in a five-way tie for ninth place in career goals in program history.
The snow picked up in overtime, and so did the 'Dons' offense. Purdue Fort Wayne dominated overtime, with seven Mastodons taking eight total shots in the final 20 minutes of the game, compared to Omaha's one. Purdue Fort Wayne's best chance came in minute 108, when Isabelle Wissel booted a deep ball toward the goal and hit the top woodwork.
Megan Sinnott, Eliese LaCourt and Hannah Kroger each contributed one shot on goal each and Wisniewski tallied three.
The Mastodons move their record to 4-9-4, 0-5-2 Summit League and Omaha ends their regular season with a record of 5-11-2, 2-5-1 Summit League.
Purdue Fort Wayne will finish their final Summit League conference matchup against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Sunday (Nov. 3) at 1 p.m. Sunday's game will serve as the Senior Day for Kendall Quinn, Chloee Foor, Lauren Lawrence, Kroger, Gabbie Mann and Emily Hayner.
