MACOMB, Ill. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer fell to conference rival Western Illinois 2-0 on Sunday (Oct. 6).
In the first 45 minutes, both teams remained scoreless. All three shots the Mastodons took were on goal.
In the 55th minute, Zoe Clarke scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Leathernecks just outside the box. Four minutes later, the Leathernecks scored again making the score 2-0.
Kayla Wisniewski led the way for the 'Dons in shots on goal with two. Hannah Kroger, Kelsey Gallagher and Morgan Reitano each contributed one shot on goal apiece. Emily Gunsett had a chance to score in the 85th minute, but it went wide left.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 4-5-2, 0-1-0 Summit League. Western Illinois improves to 6-5-1, 1-0-0.
The Mastodons will return home to the Hefner Soccer Complex for a pair of Summit League matchups next week: North Dakota on Thursday (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m. and South Dakota at noon on Sunday. Sunday's game will be the Mastodons' annual Pink Out game to support those diagnosed with breast cancer.
