Purdue Fort Wayne Drops Non-League Game Against Ball State
11/12/2019 10:10:00 PM | Women's Basketball
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Despite career-highs from Hannah Albrecht and Sh'Toya Sanders, Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball dropped a Tuesday (Nov. 5) game against Ball State 83-52 in the Gates Sports Center.
Sanders picked up 14 rebounds on the night, with four coming off the offensive glass. Her 14 were the most by a Mastodon since Keanna Gary in January, 2016. Albrecht tied her previous career-high with 21 points on 9 of 16 shooting.
Ball State led wire-to-wire, knocking in their first two 3-point attempts. The Mastodons went on a 6-0 run in the second half as Anna Lappenküper and Sanders dropped in back-to-back 3-pointers.
Albrecht converted an old-fashioned 3-point play with 2:10 left in the game, followed shortly after by a 3-pointer from the right side. She finished with two treys, on 50 percent shooting, while shooting 56.2 percent from the floor.
The Mastodons shot 57 percent from the right wing for the night. Riley Ott drew six Ball State fouls.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 2-1 while Ball State improves to 1-1. The Mastodons take the court again on Friday when they travel to the Akron Classic, where they will play two more MAC foes in Akron and Kent State. The games are set for Friday 4:30 p.m. and Saturday noon tips.
