The Mastodons had the momentum early on in the match. After an 11-11 draw, the Mastodons went on a 7-1 run , which included two kills from Elizabeth Fuerst, a kill from Sydney Boerst, and an ace from Sidney Schiller. The fourth set remained close as Purdue Fort Wayne led at 17-16, but the Pioneers rattled off five straight that put them up four. The Mastodons combated a pair of set points as Sandra Hoevels had a kill, but Denver ultimately took the advantage of its home floor and won their third try at the match.
