Sammy Moran Named Academic All-League

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sammy Moran of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country program has been named to the 2019 Summit League Academic All-League Team, as voted on by faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.
Moran owns a 3.98 cumulative GPA. This is his first career Academic All-Summit League honor. Moran holds the second best time for a 10K in program history with a time of 26:16.9. He accomplished this time at the 2019 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 15 at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He led the way for the 'Dons at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener with a fifth place finish and a time of 15:54.3 in the 5K. Moran also helped the Mastodons to a fifth place finish at the Summit League Championships Presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare 8K and 27th place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional 10K.
The Otsego, Michigan native is a mechanical engineering major.
To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The Men's Cross Country Academic All-League Team is made up of the five student-athletes, receiving the most votes.
