Brinker Cards One Under Par on Final Day to Lead 'Dons

PALM CITY, Fla. - Eric Brinker carded a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team on the final day of the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate. The Mastodons finished in ninth place with a three-day score of 895.
Hosted by UNCG at the par-72, 6,802-yard Martin Downs Golf Club, the host Spartans took home the team title with a 54-hole score of 14-under-par 850. Nick Lyerly also of UNCG won individual medalist honors with a 9-under-par 207.
The 'Dons carded a 299 on the final day to finish five shots back of eighth place South Dakota.
Brinker's 1-under-par 71 was the lowest round of the tournament by any Mastodon. His round included a 3-under-par back-nine that saw him record four birdies. He finished the tournament in a tie for 17th place with a three-day score of 217. Zach Schroeder and Callahan Elzey tied for 40th place with a 224. Schroeder fired a 79 on the final day, while Elzey finished with a 75. Clark Tiller carded a 76 on day three to finish tied for 56th with a 230. Parker Deakyne wrapped up the team scoring for the 'Dons with an 80, finishing in 88th place with a 251.
Leading the Mastodon individuals was Luke Miller in a tie for 67th place, shooting a 79 for the day and a three-day score of 235. Zac Turi finished his week with a 79 to finish in 77th place with a 237. Josh Keating placed 86th, shooting a 78 on the final day and 247 overall. Jake Kennedy was 90th, carding a final-round 82, and finishing the week at 264. Cody White rounded out the squad in 91st position, shooting an 89 for the day and a 268 for the tournament.
Purdue Fort Wayne returns to action March 4-5 at the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Daytona Beach, Florida.
