Lewis Leads Mastodons on Day One of Lady Cat Invite

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team sits in eighth place after the first day of the Lady Cat Invitational, where the Mastodons carded rounds of 321 and 309.
Hosted by Bethune-Cookman, the par-72 LGPA International - Jones Course is being played at 6,240 yards. The host Wildcats hold a one-shot lead in the team standings with a 36-hole score of 572. Yudika Rodriguez also of BCU leads the individual standings with a 4-under-par 140.
The 'Dons sit five shots back of seventh place Palm Beach Atlantic.
Sarah Lewis led the team after shooting identical rounds of 78 to finish tied for 34th with a 156. One stroke back in a tie for 37th, carding scores of 84 and 73. Holly Anderson is tied for 44th with a 159, as she carded three birdies on the day to record rounds of 78 and 81. Emma Schroeder shot a 161 (81-80) to finish the day tied for 52nd. In 65th place is Paige Bird, shooting scores of 87 and 78 to round out the team scoring with a 165.
Playing as an individual, Kennedy Brooker carded a team-best four birdies on the day, including three in the second round. She finished the day tied for 37th with scores of 81 and 76, to shoot a 157. Linnzie Richner also competed as an individual, shooting rounds of 79 and 82 to tie for 52nd with a 161.
The final round of the Lady Cat Invitational begins tomorrow, March 8, at 8:30 a.m.
