Brooker Tied for Second After First Day of Home Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team kicked off its annual Mastodon Spring Invite Monday (April 1) at the Pine Valley Country Club. The Mastodons finished day one in third place with a team score of 325.
The par-71 course at Pine Valley is being played at 5,872 yards. Green Bay leads the team standings with an 18-hole score of 318. Alexa Hatz of Detroit Mercy leads the individual standings with a 5-over-par 76.
The Mastodons sit two shots back of second place Detroit Mercy.
Playing as an individual Kennedy Brooker led the Mastodons on the day as she is tied for second place with a 77. She tied for the lead with a pair of birdies on the day, both coming on the back nine, Nos. 13 and 17. Also playing as an individual is Sarah Lewis, who carded an 81 and is tied for seventh.
Emma Schroeder led the team scoring for the 'Dons in sixth place with an 80, as she carded a birdie on the par-3, No. 3. Tied for seventh place are Holly Anderson and Abigail Carlsen with scores of 81. Paige Bird tied for the team lead with a pair of birdies on Nos. 3 and 18, as she is tied for 13th place with an 83. Linnzie Richner rounds out the team scoring in a tie for 18th place with an 85.
The final round of the Mastodon Spring Invite will be an 11 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, April 2, at Pine Valley Country Club.
