FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer head coach Mike Harper unveiled the 2019 schedule on Wednesday (May 29). The slate is highlighted by a road match at Notre Dame and three home Summit League games.
Of the Mastodons' 13 non-league games, five are against Horizon League members. The 'Dons went 3-1-1 against Horizon League teams last season.
Purdue Fort Wayne's first Summit League game will be Sept. 28 at Oral Roberts. The 'Dons won't play a league game again until Oct. 12 when the 'Dons head to Omaha for a rematch of last season's Summit League Tournament Quarterfinal contest that saw the Mavericks edge the Mastodons 1-0. The final three conference contests are all at home, with Western Illinois (Oct. 19), Eastern Illinois (Nov. 2) and Denver (Nov. 9) coming to Hefner.
The Mastodons will play exhibitions on August 16 with Indiana Tech at home and Valparaiso on the road on August 25. Marshall (Aug. 30), Cal Baptist (Sept. 1) and Marian (Sept. 4) are the first three regular season contests for Purdue Fort Wayne, and all three will be at home. A road match at IUPUI (Sept. 8) is prior to three home games against Belmont (Sept. 13), Green Bay (Sept. 17) and Northern Illinois (Sept. 20). All told it means six of the first seven regular season games will be played in Fort Wayne.
The slate leads up to an October 8 game at ACC foe Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are coming off a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2018. The two clubs haven't played a regular season contest since 1984.
The schedule features other non-league road matches at Wright State (Sept. 24), Cincinnati (Oct. 1), Bowling Green (Oct. 22) and at Northern Kentucky (Oct. 30).
The Summit League Championship is set for November 14 and 16 in Denver. The top four teams in the Summit League regular season will earn a trip to the Centennial State for a chance at the title.
